Introduction to the artwork
Jiyoung Kim @jkim_creations

I think about the vitality of wild grasses on the road and value of a small being. Those wild grasses facing me in the passing
breeze. My art making process begins from the memories left in the journey taken somewhere there,
embracing me with all the memories passing through the journey; the journey searching for organic forms,
existential beauty in beings and
their meanings.

My world of work is focused on specific materials such as the moon and jars, which are indigenous, oriental, and at the same time global.
And through the harmony of the warmth and softness of the moon and the jar, I am trying to give peace of mind to those who appreciate my work by reminding them of their nostalgia for their hometown and childhood memories.

Later, I started studying art early under the influence of my father, who drew as a hobby. When I attended art school, I always liked landscape paintings and
Impressionist Monet paintings with their dreamlike touch. I was impressed by the colors that Monet created and the way he expressed the borderless air with color. Additionally, as he began his artistic career, he was greatly inspired by the modern Korean Artist Lee Jung-seop. Not only was his creative style good, but his
strong love for family, his philosophy of painting even in poverty, and his tenacity gave me a lot to think about.
The motto of my paintings is family. The unconditional love I received from my father was the beginning, and the beginning of its existence became the background, color and light. And again, I am sending a signal of relief and peace of mind to my children. It is a peaceful homewhere you can rest when life in reality is tiring and difficult. in addition,
light comes from somewhere, like Monet's painting, which emphasizes natural light and color and draws vague boundaries
with cataracts.
Focus on using creative materials that help change light and color, such as pastel, encaustic, medium, and acrylic paint.

Existentialist philosophers say that the way humans exist is based on the feeling of 'anxiety'. Anxiety is different from the 'fear'
that occurs in a specific object, indicating a vague feeling. Anxiety is a worry that occurs when
an individual's intrinsic value of being as a person is threatened.
Anxiety, a basic human emotion, is included in my work. There are also attempts to visualize the invisible unconscious world through the medium of dreams.

I have been following the artist's work for many years, and this painting in particular is one I love. I felt there was an immediate connection between the artwork and my own thoughts.
The background makes me think of the boundless universe of opportunities, while the clock hands remind me of our limited time here on earth. Maybe the artist is telling us "That's ok, as long as we are aware of our life.
We are all part of the Universe, and the Universe is unlimited."
"Time Travel" is a beautiful reflection on our fleeting lives in an eternal cosmos, a testament to the artist's talent in provoking deep contemplation.

The white deer, in harmony with the green earth, beautiful flowers, and the mystical background of the Shangri-La Valley, symbolizes peace, good luck, and happiness. We hope that the connection to the eyes of the white deer expressed with delicate sensitivity will provide comfort and healing in the busy daily lives of modern people and that it will bring a relaxation and happiness to life.

The characters in my works provide comfort and solace to each other or themselves and
make the viewer ponder about relationships.
i deliberately avoid defining the emotions or situations too specifically to allow for free interpretation based on the audience's experiences, values, and circumstances. I gain energy in the process of working alone.
Repeatedly painting and firing seven or eight times leads to new and unexpected outcomes.
When I gradually build up clay to create the desired form, I always give my best as if it's the last piece I can make in the world. But the moment I put it in the kiln, I often forget what work I was doing.
I just silently and indifferently start another work, lifting another lump of clay in my hands.

I see myself embracing 50 years.
It's an evening where I can neither move forward nor step back. How much longer will my old things remain?
I'm not sure if I miss the old things or if I miss who I was in those times. Feeling the absence is because those things once existed.
But even those things that once existed originally did not exist. The reason I work on drawing living plants and static objects is because of this. Now, I have more occasions of letting go than waiting. Like the act of letting go, I wish I could just flow effortlessly without any significant events.
Even if I spend all day 'stopping', time outside continues to flow. Is it okay to live at my own pace and time?

Selbitt @selbitt

I liked drawing. Maybe I just loved being complimented on a little different view I have from others.
Whatever the reason is, even before I noticed, art became the shelter of my life where I find peace.
Like the antique dress sleeves of a dressy lady I met at a bus stop or the freshly looking apple tree with raindrops beside my grandmother's grave, I want my work to share a piece of my life I created as if making a collage of where my heart stays with the viewers, hoping it can comfort their tiredness.
